Jesus In The Boat

Luke 5:3-7

“Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.

‘When He had stopped speaking, He said,Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.’

“5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”

BibleGateway Jesus is right there in the superabundance of His grace. I usually picture these verses with just Peter and his friends, but Jesus didn’t go anywhere. He’s with us in the storm and in the joy.

The Lord is Your Teacher

“It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.”

Jesus in John 6:45

“He had no counselor to guide his steps,” E.M. Almedingen’s 1967, St. Francis of Assissi biography reveals. If he didn’t obey Jesus’ calling, we’d never have heard of him. He left his wealthy parents, disobeyed even the Roman church, except for one Bishop close to the Pope.

People like my friend from Massachusettes; God talked to her, gave her visions and did things even her own Pastor couldn’t help her with or explain, until she attended Global Awakening.

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”       Jesus in Matthew 11:29

Immediate Obedience

“And as He walked by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.

When He had gone a little farther from there, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. And immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after Him.”                 Mark 1:16-20

Dear Lord, make us bold in worshipping and honoring You, to follow You and obey Your voice immediately, in Jesus’ name.

The Best – God’s Best

I pray you have a blessed New Year!  God’s best is to hear Him for ourselves.  God is so awesome and loves His children more than anyone of us can fully know on earth.

Life’s full of trials, it’s a promise, also He is always with us & will never leave us.

We each must leave our Elijah’s and Moses’ and work with God on our own.

Remember the nameless prophet in 1 Kings 13:

Vs. 9, “For so it was commanded me by the word of the Lord, saying, ‘You shall not eat bread, nor drink water, nor return by the same way you came.’ ”

Vs. 21, 22, “And he cried out to the man of God who came from Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Because you have disobeyed the word of the Lord, and have not kept the commandment which the Lord your God commanded you, but you came back, ate bread, and drank water in the place of which the Lord said to you, ‘Eat no bread and drink no water,’ your corpse shall not come to the tomb of your fathers.”

You’re The Head and Not The Tail

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.

“And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.”

Deuteronomy 28:1, 13

The world is your oyster. You have your whole life ahead of you. Your life is on a path set for truth & righteousness & freedom.

Look ahead, to the future with Christ.

“A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness, the unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray.”                                    Isaiah 35:8

Disappointment

“I delight to do Thy will, O my God: yea, Thy law is within my heart.” Psalm 40:8

  • Church plant failure? It took a lot of money and people’s resources, the Pastor said.
  • Business disaster?
  • Divorce?
  • Child loss? Hillary Scott’s song: ‘How is my pain part of Your plan?’

We’re not immune from these, but we get up again. Haven’t you all heard people say: I was following You, God, obeying You, then ‘the bottom drops out’?

Oswald Chambers, October 13, https://utmost.org/individual-discouragement-and-personal-growth/

“We may have the vision of God and a very clear understanding of what God wants, and yet when we start to do it, there comes to us something equivalent to Moses’ forty years in the wilderness.”

Miracle Appointment

A friend walked up to me, “Are you going to call?” She said before she left the house, “the Lord told me to agree with you in prayer.” Because she obeyed God, I received the answer I was praying for.  Thank You, Jesus!

Corrie ten Boom says, “love and obedience” in Not I, But Christ.

“But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” 1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV)

Jesus in John 21:17, “Do you love Me?”

God’s Rebuke

Proverbs 1:23, (NKJV), “Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.”

Psalm 104:7, “At Your rebuke they fled; At the voice of Your thunder they hastened away.”

Thank You for lovingly teaching us, Father. Let us worship and glorify You by hearing and obeying You.

“My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor detest His correction;
For whom the Lord loves He corrects,
Just as a father the son in whom he delights.” Prov 3:11-12

Psalm 73:

Verse 17, “Until I went into the sanctuary of God; Then I understood their end.”

Verses 23-24, “Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, And afterward receive me to glory.”

Verse 28, “But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GodThat I may declare all Your works.”
