The Lord impressed upon me to return the two dollars and fifty cents to the store Manager. She previously returned the money after I complained about the taste of a bottled coffee drink that was expired, she gently stated that it was a “best by” date.
Even when I moved out of the area, the Lord reminded me that I failed to return it. Two years went by, I came across a receipt from ‘that’ store – it bothered me. I knew I had to act. A week later, coming home from a conference, there was the store? I pulled in, yes, the employees said, the store is in a new location!
Seemingly benign amount of money. She almost didn’t want to take it; leaving, I felt a relief. It’s for the Lord to say and for us to do.
Dear Lord, help us to hear Your voice and act accordingly, in Jesus’ name.
“So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed than the fat of rams.”
…But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land: And the rest, some on boards & some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land. Acts 27:43-44.
“And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the Lord in Shiloh,” Joshua 18:8.
“And this is love, that we walk after His commandments. This is the commandment, That, as you’ve heard from the beginning, you should walk in it,” 2 John 1:6.
Revelation 21:24, “And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it.”
Upon waking, I looked outside, it was all misty, very early before the neighbors stirred. You said, “walk in it.” You meant now, not after my usual coffee & devotions. A bit slowly, I pulled on some street clothes & went outside. We took the high road together. It was magical, quiet & warm, like a private space. Some blocks up, a deer was eating from a bush in a yard, we met eyes. Thank You for Your beauty & refreshing times, dear Lord.
