Jesus, Friend At Midnight

Luke 11:5-8, “And He said to them, ‘Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, “Friend, lend me 3 loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him”; and he will answer from within and say, “Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you”?

‘I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs'”

Luke 10:39, “And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.”

“One thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:42

Dear Jesus, how can You be so high above us and still be so down to earth and approachable? We love You.

Be Warm & Fed, lol

“If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed, but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?”    James 2:16 (NIV)

Are we Christians walking the walk?

Dull eyes & ears – it hurts to see their ignorance.  Jesus’ compassion is perceptive to people’s needs.

“If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also. And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

“Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.”   Matthew 5:40-42 (NKJV)

Father God, pop open the ears and unveil their eyes, in Jesus’ name.  Thank You for the special prayer request You answered through ‘strangers’ today in such a profound way.

Blogging Rules

  • Glorify God: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul and all your strength.” Says Jesus in Mark 12:30
  • Be honest: give something true of yourself (Proverbs 11:3)
  • Be consistent: keep giving (Luke 6:38)
  • Minimize tags and categories (Ecclesiastes 5:2) – this is a hard one

God made each of us so unique, how could our blogs be the same then?

I’ll Pay My Vows

“But I will sacrifice unto Thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed.  Salvation is of the Lord.” Jonah 2:9 (KJV).

Jesus says in Matt 5:33-37, 42 (NASB) “Again, you have heard that the ancients were told, ‘YOU SHALL NOT MAKE FALSE VOWS, BUT SHALL FULFILL YOUR VOWS TO THE LORD.’ “But I say to you, make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet, or by Jerusalem, for it is THE CITY OF THE GREAT KING. “Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. “But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is of evil.” “Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.”

You won’t get a paycheck, but if you pay what you promised, the Lord Who seeks righteousness will know.  Two years ago I gave away my hair, clothes and car.

Dr. David Jeremiah describes generosity as giving and not expecting anything back (TBN).

Ecclesiastes 5:4 (KJV), “When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.”

2 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV), “For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. You have done a foolish thing, and from now on you will be at war.”
