A friend pulled material to give to his daughter’s grade school teachers so they’d know how to be aware and deal with her symptoms.
Our adult Sunday School teacher corrected a friend for reading a different scripture passage than directed to. But what she read was GOOD, holy, anointed and prophetic.
Who was wrong?
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” James 3:1 (NIV).
“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:11-16 (NKJV).
“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.” Proverbs 9:9 (NKJV).
A few years ago, a Pastor did a wonderful sermon on women in the Bible and their place in ministry! Lately, we heard another Pastor teach falsely on women; this hurtful and wrong teaching insults the Lord God and leads men to objectify women. I remember Francesca Battistelli’s song, “I am who You say I am.”
Luke 8: 1-3 (NKJV), “Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”
2 Timothy 4:19, 21 “Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.”
“And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekeh his wife conceived.
“And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus: And she went to enquire of the Lord.
“And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.” Genesis 25:21-23 (KJV).
“And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.” Judges 4:4.
Romans 2:11-12 (KJV), “For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;”
2 Corinthians 5:10, (NIV), “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”
Lord, please forgive the Pastors who taught otherwise, show them Your truth by Your Holy Spirit. Forgive us that sit and listen to false theology and are complacent and compromising, help us to hear Your voice, and fact check according to Your Holy Word and admonish our Pastors.
Luke 9:54-56 (KJV), “And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt Thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But He turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.”
Derek Prince in “Take Heed That You’re Not Deceived” youtube teaching says,
In the book of Mark, 7 kinds of spirits are mentioned. MK 16:9 (KJV), “Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven devils.”
Deuteronomy 22:9, 11, “Thou shalt not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled. Thou shalt not wear a garment of divers sorts, as of woollen and linen together.”
Derek Prince asks, are we sowing mixed seeds? flesh & spirit, linen & wood, pure & manmade?
Base everything on the scriptures, beware of fantasy especially from t.v. Keep it Simple Stupid (KISS), attributed to Corrie ten Boom. Exercise your sense of discernment as in Hebrews 5:12-14:
“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
“For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Cultivate love of the truth in 2 Thes 2:9-12:
“Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
“That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God,” Paul imparts in Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV).
Lord, I lift up Your servants and ask You to encourage them now with wisdom and joy. Instill a heightened sense of urgency to be real, to not hold back, but to allow Your Holy Spirit and Word to come alive in them, for Your Holy Spirit Fire to convict those around them of sin leading to repentance, and Your forgiving arms, O, Lord God! Nothing’s hid from Your sight, we come clean to You, Father.
“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with Mine eye,” Psalm 32:8 (KJV).
“I press toward the goal for the prize of upward call of Jesus Christ. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you,” Paul writes in Philippians 3:14-15 (NKJV).
“Who is the man that fears the Lord? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses,” King David says in Psalm 25:12-15 (NKJV).
Jesus said in John 14:26 (NKJV), “ButtheHelper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father willsend in My name,He will teach you all things, and bring to yourremembrance all things that I said to you.”
Jesus taught in Mt 5:1-10 (NKJV), “And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:
Blessedare the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, Forthey shall inherit theearth. Blessed are those whohunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, Forthey shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Lately truth has come to Light revealing that some media reports are one-sided, editorial in nature, designed to program your mind to what they want you to believe.
In the same way, Satan, the father of all lies, comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 8:44, 10:10). Be careful what you’re thinking when circumstances go wrong. What is God doing that’s good? The under-story is His word is always true (Proverbs 30:5). I have a plan for you, I will never leave you nor forsake you, I sing over you, I will be with you always (Jer 29:11, Deut 31:6, Heb 13:5, Zeph 3:17, Matt 28:20).
Paul would have given up any number of times if he believed in circumstances, when he was blinded temporarily by Jesus, chased down, stoned and left for dead, beaten, ex-communicated by Jews, even the Disciples didn’t want him in the beginning (Acts 9:3,9, 14:19, 16:22, 2 Cor 11:25, Acts 23:12, 9:26).
“Magnify the Lord with me, let us exalt His name together.” Psalm 34:3.
“He has done marvelous things!”Psalm 98:1. “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” Psalm 126:3.
I surrendered my life to Jesus in 7th grade, at a youth retreat. A few years later, I received the baptism in the Spirit at a local coffeehouse. Through those early years I was blessed to lead home groups, teach the Word, counsel, lead worship, and share the gospel through music, drama, and many other means. In 1978 I married my lovely wife Debbie, who has been an unfailing help and support all these years. We are blessed with three children, all now adults. Continued…
“Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.” Psalm 45:7
January 14: Isaiah 6:8, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” God didn’t lay a strong compulsion on Isaiah, Isaiah was in the presence of God and he overheard the call, and realized that there was nothing else for him, but to say in conscious freedom – “Here am I, send me.”
January 30: Get in the the habit of saying, “Speak Lord” and make time to listen. 1 Samuel 3:10, “And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for Thy servant heareth.”
February 12: Once I finally do hear Him, the humiliation I’ve heaped on Him returns to me. But our real delight in finally hearing Him is tempered with the shame we feel for having taken so long to do so.
February 14: Matthew 10:27, “What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.” But once you hear, He gives you the gift of humiliation, which brings a softness of heart— a gift that will always cause you to listen to God now.
2nd, A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit of God. Chapter 6. The Speaking Voice (Biblesnet.com)
Pg. 75, The speaking voice is a fact…When God spoke out of heaven to our Lord, self-centered men who heard it explained it by natural causes: they said, “It thundered.” This habit of explaining the Voice by appeals to natural law is at the very root of modern science. In the living breathing cosmos there is a mysterious Something, too wonderful, too awful for any mind to understand. The believing man does not claim to understand. He falls to his knees and whispers, “God.”
Pg. 76, The Voice of God is a friendly Voice…The heavens as well as the earth are filled with the good will of Him that dwelt in the bush. The perfect blood of atonement secures this forever.
Pg. 78, “Lord, teach me to listen. The times are noisy and my ears are weary … Give me the spirit of the boy Samuel when he said to Thee, “Speak, for Thy servant heareth.” … the music of Thy speaking Voice. Amen.
One of the greatest benefits of our salvation has to be that of hearing God speak to us personally…we can have the wisdom of God guide and protect us.
John 10:3-5,(NKJV) “To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep byname and leads them out.And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.Yet they will by no means follow astranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”
Radio and television stations transmit 24 hours a day…we only hear them when we turn the receiver on and tune it in…Likewise, God is constantly transmitting His voice…
Psalm 46:10, (NKJV) “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
We often mistake the Voice of the Lord for our own thoughts.
John 4:24, (NKJV) “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” the Lord speaks to our spirits.
