Lentil Soup Recipe

Isaiah 40:1, “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!”

  • 1 Cup Dry Lentils
  • 4 Cups Chicken Stock
  • 1/2 Onion, diced
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, diced
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
  • 3/4 Cup Diced, Canned Carrots*
  • 1 Teaspoon Rosemary
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Sea Salt

Heat onion in oil in a soup pot over medium flame until clear, add garlic and cook 5 more minutes.  Add lentils, chicken stock, rosemary, oregano and salt, bring to a boil, immediately lower heat to simmer 50 minutes or until beans are soft. Add cooked carrots in the last 15 minutes. *If you’re using fresh carrots, add them with the onions at the beginning to soften.

Ladle into serving bowls, there’s just enough room for dipping bread.  With chicken stock made from the bones, this is so rich, it becomes a new “comfort food.”

I pray you enjoy this in good health with family and friends, in Jesus’ name.

The Best Dad in the Whole World

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”                   Romans 8:15

It was told to me: our earthly father isn’t perfect, but our Heavenly Father is perfect.

“He shall cry to Me, ‘You are my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.'”

Psalm 89:26

Father?  please heal the hurting, feed the hungry, move mountains for Your righteousness’ sake, in Jesus’ name.

Sword Of The Spirit

Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

Jesus in Revelation 2:16 (KJV)

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”    Hebrews 4:12, 16 (NIV)

Ephesians 6:17 (NIV), “Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

Father God, may Your Word, Your Spirit be lifted up above every other teaching, only because You love us so much and know what’s best for us.  Thank You, Father for the Pastor’s wisdom this morning: if we lived in a country where being Christian was against the law and the Police were hired to put us in jail & take away our rights – as it is right now in some countries! – how would we feel about the Police?  – This is how many people of color feel about the Police, because of what has been done to us and our friends in the past and the most recent crime. A special sensitivity.

Repentance & Revival

Ezra 8:21-23

“So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer” Vs. 23

Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Because You gave Your life on the cross for our sins’ forgiveness, we have life.

We don’t want to go on without You, like Moses, we can’t do anything with out You. We need You, Jesus, we need to see Your face, be in Your Presence, Hallelujia

TV in Window Sill – Prophetic Dream

“my heart teaches me in the night seasons”

Psalm 16:7

Dream: a television in the sill of an open window, facing outside. Someone in the room said, ‘we can turn it around.’  I said, “what happens when it rains?”

  • The open window symbol stands for an opportunity
  • Rain is the Holy Spirit
  • Television can be a voice for God or a distraction

LORD God, we need Your Spirit, to heard You.  Let us prepare a place for You in our lives, honor Your written word above all other teaching and honor Your Holy spoken word to us because our lives depend on You. Thank You for Ravi Zacharias and all Your holy teachers over the years, in Jesus’ name.

Power Belongs to God

2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

“God has spoken once, twice I have heard this:

That power belongs to God.”

Psalm 62:11

“And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.”

Acts 6:8

Dear Lord God, when we feel little, You are there, great, loving Father who knows our needs.  You are strong and on our side.

The Inner Man

“That He [God, the Father] would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,”

Ephesians 3:16

Father God, we’re sorry for using worldly, psycho babble to explain our childish hearts saying “inner child.” We take full responsibility for our actions and repent of our sins toward You, Lord, and we forgive all those who hurt us.

“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things” 1 Corinthians 13:11

Boast in the Lord

I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

Psalm 34:1-3

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You’re always near, always true, always honest, always think the best way for us.  I’ve been prideful and humbled, and bless Your name O God, nothing surprises You, but You want us to need You, to come to You and seek Your forgiveness, Your Spirit, Your Presence.  Bless You, dear God and peace to You. Amen

Soaking in God’s Presence

“Now in the morning having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.”

Mark 1:35

Heard in a Charles Stanley sermon.

“O GOD, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.”                                                                                                    Psalm 63:1

Soaking notes: there’s nothing here but what You made, I’m nothing (laughs, eyes tearing)

Everything is a gift

We’re on a great journey, the greatest of our lives

Praying Grandmas

“When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.” 2 Timothy 1:5

Oh, when this lovely couple said I looked like their granddaughter reminded me of praying for my grandchildren. You’ve been there praying for those who the Lord brings to mind.

Daddy God, it’s nice to know we can pray for those we love and You hear
