Job 32:21 (NIV), “I will show no partiality, nor will I flatter anyone; for if I were skilled in flattery, my Maker would soon take me away.”

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer..” David prayed in Psalm 19:14 (KJV).

Proverbs:

  • “The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.”  20:5
  • “Flattery is deceitful” 26:28
  • “Those who flatter their neighbors are spreading nets for their feet.” 29:5
  • “Charm is deceitful” 31:30

“You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed–God is our witness.” 1 Thessalonians 2:5

Jude 16, 19 (KJV): “Murmerers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.  These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.”

Are we focused on our works & achievements and denying the work of the cross? making Christ’s cross of no effect (1 Corinthians 1:17)?

Be in the world, not of the world (John 17:11).  “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” James 4:4 (KJV).

Have we surrendered to God and admitted our sin, so that He can heal us (James 5:16)?

God have mercy on me a sinner!” Luke 18:13.
