Love of Self

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Jesus in Mark 12:30-31 (NIV).

Ephesians 5:33, “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.”

“To thine own self be true” said William Shakespeare. Do people know how to nurture themselves?  Henry Cloud wrote a number of Godly Boundary books. You’ll have more to give.

Some ways I’ve learned:

  • Have a plan for the day, but be flexible. Jesus was always getting interrupted and went with the flow.
  • Get a good night’s sleep
  • Be pleasant with repeat offenders, but curtail their visits or phonecalls.
  • Eat right, listen to your body; cravings for yogurt, olive oil, salad, meat, sweets (honey, maple syrup), etc.
  • Get your happy time; prayer corner, walk in the park, gym, time with friends and family, cooking, gardening, singing, Paint a picture
  • Respect others’ bounderies

“I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.” Jesus in Luke 11:8.  This is a picture of God.

Face to Face

“She said to Him, ‘Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” Martha to Jesus in John 11:27 (NKJV).

“For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:12.

“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me… When You said, ‘Seek My face,’ my heart said to You, ‘Your face, Lord, I will seek.'” King David to Father God in Psalm 27:5,8

Our Sunday sermon touched on Jesus meeting with Martha and Mary and raising Lazarus from the grave. What moments of interaction with the Lord Jesus Christ! Many of us wonder would we know Jesus as Lord and Master if we were alive back then? But the whole thing now is to believe in our hearts totally without having seen Him.

Your Soul

  • “His soul shall dwell at ease.” Psalm 25:13 (NKJV).
  • “You give shameful counsel to your house, cutting off many peoples, and sin against your soul.” Habakkuk 2:10.
  • “For the Lord will plead their cause, and plunder the soul of those who plunder them.” Proverbs 22:23.
  • “He restores my soul.” Psalm 23:3
  • “He satisfies the hungry soul.” Psalm 107:9
  • If you say, ‘surely we did not know this,’ does not He Who weighs the hearts consider it? He Who keeps your soul, does He not know it? And will He not render to each man according to his deeds?” Proverbs 24:12.
  • “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

Father God, I pray for all who have a troubled soul, to look to You for peace, wholeness, and restoration in Jesus’s mighty name, Amen!

Satisfied From Above

“The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from above.” Proverbs 14:14 (NKJV).

“But He turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of man.” said Jesus in Matthew 16:23.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with Whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” James 1:17.

Dear Lord, how many times are we caught up with worldly thoughts and temptations, only to return to You, Father of lights.  Guide us today and everyday in Your truth.  Hallelujia.

You Have To Forgive Yourself

The Lord spoke this to me while waiting for prayer at a service.  It hadn’t occurred to me yet, because I was focusing on forgiving the other person.

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:29-32 (NKJV)

“Love your neighbor as yourself,” says Jesus, Mark 12:31

“Submitting to one another in the fear of God.” Ephesians 5:21

We Are Humbled

We had this discussion that when God blesses us, we’re humbled because it’s something we couldn’t achieve on our own.  Also, when we humble ourselves before God; repentant, asking for mercy and forgiveness, we’re totally humbled knowing only He could make us renewed. Praise God!

“But seek first, the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” says Jesus in Matthew 6:33.

“Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” Psalm 51:12, David cries.

Put The Kabosh On Your Diagnosis

We heard a sermon recently teaching to only speak the word of God.  Therefore, I agree with what God says about me and who He says I am, in Jesus’ name.

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 (NIV).

“He created them male and female, and blessed them and called them Mankind in the day they were created.”  Genesis 5:2 (NKJV).

  • “He brought them out with silver and gold, and there was not one feeble among them.” Psalm 105:37.

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;” 1 Corinthians 6:19.

“Now tell them this: ‘As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say. ”  Numbers 14:28.

Dry Your Eyes On Me

the Lord impressed this on me when I was going through a tough time.  When all else fails; “I’ve got you. Just sit a while with Me and listen and be refreshed and I’ll heal you.  It’s all okay, you don’t have to be ashamed to cry or of any weakness.  I’ve got a plan for your life and this isn’t the end.”  Jesus seemed to say.

“Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed;

Save me, and I shall be saved,

For You are my praise”  Jeremiah 17:14 (NKJV).

“Jesus departed from there, skirted the Sea of Galilee, and went up on the mountain and sat down there.

“Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.”  Matthew 15:29-30.

“When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed.  And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick.” Matt 8:16.

Praise Alert

“Having predestined us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.” Ephesians 1:5 (KJV).

“In Whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of Him Who worketh all things after the counsel of His own will:” Ephesians 1:11.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11.

“Even every one that is called by My name: for I have created him for My glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.”  Isaiah 43:7.

Great praiseworthy news!  Baby Scott that we prayed for last year, who was born healthy despite doctors’ warnings, has robust lungs and heart.  He was cleared from monthly pulmonologist (in January) and cardiologist visits (two weeks ago) to only an annual heart check!! Praise You Lord Jesus!

Prophetic Act

Last Thursday at 5:25 am I heard the coffee dripping in the timed, kitchen coffee pot from the bedroom for the very first time. Though normally only the delicious smell is enough to wake me up.

My sheep hear My voicesays Jesus in John 10:27

In Jesus’ name, I declare ears are opened to hear the word of the Lord!

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom 10:17 (NKJV).
