Afghanistan and Haiti – Boyd Hannold

From Pastor Boyd Hannold

Dear Church Family,

When a lawyer asked Jesus about the greatest commandment and Jesus asked him to share his thoughts first, the lawyer said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27). That’s when Jesus illustrated what was meant by the word neighbor by highlighting a Samaritan. He was a different and unaccepted ethnicity. Jesus’ point, of course, was that all people everywhere are our neighbors.

We need to hold the people of Afghanistan and Haiti, our neighbors, up in prayer. When we see the loss of life and lifestyle, the lack of basic needs, and people on the move without hope, we should be heartbroken and moved to pray. Both countries need peace. Both are experiencing political instability. Both have thousands with basic needs.
In the case of Haiti, our regional district, the Metropolitan District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, is raising funds for CAMA, the denominational relief arm, as they strategize on the best way to help. You can donate to that fund by going to princetonalliance.org/give and select the “Haiti Relief” category in order to give directly to that effort.
