Trust / Rest

Many times in prayers one word follows the other, similar sounding at the end, as if they have the same meaning.

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11:28

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

Proverbs 3:5

May I please pray for y’all?

Father God, we rest and trust in You alone.  You lead and guide us, You’re true and You love us with everlasting love and have plans, not problems*.  The fearmongers are out in droves, wearing sheep’s clothing, but Your word says, ‘perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment.” 1 John 4:18, and, “Love has been perfected in us…that we may have boldness.” Glory to You, Daddy!

  1. Matthew 11:28 is one of my most favorite of verses. Over the years my understanding started with tentative steps toward Jesus with ‘Come’. After many years now, and a long arduous trail behind me, now I finally understand and have entered into ‘will give you rest’. What a lifetime verse as it takes a lifetime to live and understand! Thank you!
