Jesus said: “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”
She said, “No one, Lord. “And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.” John 8:10-11 NKJV.
When a Pastor of a large church said they accept people no matter if it takes a lifetime to be righteous, there’s a disconnect. It’s true that we each ourselves are responsible for our own growth, but we’re taught to admonish one another and confront lovingly our brothers and sisters in Christ. Jesus says in Matthew 18:15-16 (NIV):
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over.
But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’
and Luke 17:3-4 (NIV):
So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”
We heard an old hymn in church where it sang of having a heart for evangelism for those who keep sinning. Christians didn’t invent this idea, we are trying with the Holy Spirit to put sin away.
