One Up Them

…in love.  Dealing with difficult people? Come up higher.  Look from God’s perspective.

  • “As a father pities His children, so the Lord pities those who fear Him. Psalm 103:13.
  • “A father of the fatherless, a Defender of widows is God in His holy habitation,” Psalm 68:5.
  • “For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men -” 1 Peter 2:15 (NKJV).
  • “But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty,” 1 Corinthians 1:27.
  • “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them,” Ephesians 2:10.
  • “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself,” Philippians 2:3
  • “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God, has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit Who as given to us,” Romans 5:5.

“I will lift up my eyes to the hills – from whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth,” Psalm 121:1-2 (NKJV).

Educate The Teachers

A friend pulled material to give to his daughter’s grade school teachers so they’d know how to be aware and deal with her symptoms.

Our adult Sunday School teacher corrected a friend for reading a different scripture passage than directed to. But what she read was GOOD, holy, anointed and prophetic.

Who was wrong?

“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” James 3:1 (NIV).

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:11-16 (NKJV).

“Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.” Proverbs 9:9 (NKJV).

Watchman

“Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the House of Israel; therefore hear a word from My mouth, and give them a warning from Me:

“When I say to the wicked, ‘you shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.”    Ezekiel 3:17-18 (NKJV).

“Yet, if you warn the wicked and he doesn’t turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he will die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.” Ezekiel 3:19.

Innovative

is how Martha describes the Holy Spirit, He’s always doing something new. She’s always listening and watching and ready to teach others what she has learned.

Jesus says:

John 14:15-18 (NKJV), “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”

John 14:25-25, “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

John 15:26, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

John 16:13 (NIV), “But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.

Praise God, for His Holy Word!  Why wait to teach on the Holy Ghost, 1/3 of the trinity?  I waited 5 years for a Holy Ghost seminar at my former Pentecostal church.

Invisible Thread

My husband picked up my spilled sewing tin and joked, “how did I see the invisible thread?” The clear plastic thread I’d lost use for.

Witnessing to my nephew once on how God provides all the intangibles: faith, love, confidence, hope, he said unconvinced, “all I have to do is submit to Him?”

Paul tells us to walk by faith in 2 Corinthians 5:7.

Dear Lord, thread through our lives, with Your mercy, grace, love and truth. For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere.

Hebrews 11:1-3 (The Message), “The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd. By faith, we see the world called into existence by God’s word, what we see created by what we don’t see.”

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Roman 4:17 (KJV), “(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

John 20:31 (NIV), “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.”

Reclaiming Lost Things

Alright, Father God finds the lost, like me and you.

I didn’t know I was in darkness, but Jesus rescued me from my sinful self.  Now I can believe Him Who lives in me and His thoughts about me.

After finding my friend’s earring last month, the Lord gave me a prophetic dream where I found a lost engagement ring behind a cabinet, then was babysitting in another house and said to the parents, “I was reclaiming lost things.”

You have to declare it, said a friend once.  Let’s declare;

  • God finds the lost,
  • God restores marriages,
  • God repairs broken hearts,
  • God repairs broken relationships,
  • God reconciles friends,
  • God heals the sick,
  • God makes the crooked places straight

Rejoice with Me, I’ve found My lost sheep,” Luke 15:6; “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds,” Psalm 147:3; He makes the crooked places straight Isaiah 45:2

Why Jesus Christ Died

From My Utmost for His Highest, December 20th, by Oswald Chamber:

utmost.org/the-right-kind-of-help/ (excerpted below)

This really hit home based on discussions about our church.  Funny, this was originally published in 1935, and is so relevant today, too.  See John 12:32 (NIV), “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to Myself.”

Very few of us have any understanding of the reason why Jesus Christ died. If sympathy is all that human beings need, then the Cross of Christ is an absurdity and there is absolutely no need for it. What the world needs is not “a little bit of love,” but major surgery.

You must have a right-standing relationship with Him yourself, and pour your life out in helping others in His way— not in a human way that ignores God. The theme of the world’s religion today is to serve in a pleasant, non-confrontational manner.

But our only priority must be to present Jesus Christ crucified— to lift Him up all the time (see 1 Corinthians 2:2). Every belief that is not firmly rooted in the Cross of Christ will lead people astray.

We are sent by God to lift up Jesus Christ, not to give wonderfully beautiful speeches. We must be willing to examine others as deeply as God has examined us. We must also be sharply intent on sensing those Scripture passages that will drive the truth home, and then not be afraid to apply them.

Why Women?

A few years ago, a Pastor did a wonderful sermon on women in the Bible and their place in ministry!  Lately, we heard another Pastor teach falsely on women; this hurtful and wrong teaching insults the Lord God and leads men to objectify women.  I remember Francesca Battistelli’s song, “I am who You say I am.”

Luke 8: 1-3 (NKJV), “Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.”

2 Timothy 4:19, 21 “Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. Do thy diligence to come before winter.  Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.”

“And Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife, because she was barren: and the Lord was intreated of him, and Rebekeh his wife conceived.

“And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus: And she went to enquire of the Lord.

“And the Lord said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger.” Genesis 25:21-23 (KJV).

“And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.” Judges 4:4.

Romans 2:11-12 (KJV), “For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;”

2 Corinthians 5:10, (NIV), “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.”

Lord, please forgive the Pastors who taught otherwiseshow them Your truth by Your Holy Spirit.  Forgive us that sit and listen to false theology and are complacent and compromising, help us to hear Your voice, and fact check according to Your Holy Word and admonish our Pastors.

Jesus’s Full Blessings

Jesus’s full blessings will supercede all your hopes and expectations.

Luke 2:34-35, “And Simeon blessed them and said unto Mary His mother, Behold, this Child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against: (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NKJV), “For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of His government and peace
There will be no end,
Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom,
To order it and establish it with judgment and justice
From that time forward, even forever.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

“A bruised reed He will not break, and a smoldering wick He will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; He will not falter or be discouraged till He establishes justice on earth. In His teaching the islands will put their hope.”” Isaiah 42:3-4 (NIV).

John 3:16-17 (NKJV), “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

John 4:14, “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”

Jesus in a Manger

“And stay by my cradle

till morning comes nigh

Be near me Lord Jesus

I ask Thee to stay

close by me forever

And love me, I pray” by William J. Kirkpatrick (1895)

Luke 2:11-12 (KJV), “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love Me, he will keep my words: and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14:23 (KJV).

Jesus says: “I Am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:20 (KJV).
