Sacrifice for Jesus

The Pastor encouraged us to honor Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross, by giving up something for lent.  This year a Pastor said maybe we could give something or do something special for someone who could use it.  Not that we had to, but as a way to be near Jesus and identify in a small part with His sufferings.

Making phonecalls to a friend or writing cards, remembering them.  You could read all four gospels for lent, or read all the Prophets, or do a Daniel Fast.  It will enrich your life so much.

Dear Jesus, how could we ever walk in Your shoes?  Being in Your Presence is all I ask.

One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.”  Psalm 27:4-5 (NKJV)

Lent is the 40 days between ash Wednesday to Easter, signifying Jesus’ 40 days after He was baptized, Matthew 4:1-2.
