Iron Sharpens Iron – Proverbs 27:17

Dear Lord, I pray for those of us that are isolated.  Help us to open up to friends and church families, how else can we know that we’re sinning unless someone tells us?  It’s scary that we’re all capable of sin, especially of the heart, but that’s why we need You Lord and Your work on the Cross.  We can never get right on our own.  Father, I’m in Your eternal debt for taking me in as one of Your family.

A true friend will be honest with you, “take the log out of your own eye,” (Mt 7:5).  Some sins of the heart are fear, judgment and pride (Genesis 6:5).

John says, “if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth isn’t in us,” 1John 1:8.  The truth is we can’t do any of God’s and Jesus’ commands in the Bible on our own.  If we’re right in some areas, we’re wrong in others.  If we strive to not do the sins  someone else did and we succeed, we succeed in judging them, too.  Jesus says, with what measure you use, it’ll be measured to you.” (Mark 4:24).
